Robotics Discovery Institute Returns to Train Teachers, Corporate Mentors, and Adults in Youth Robotics
The Coordination of Robotics Education Program (CORE) of the UH College of Technology presents the very successful Robotics Discovery Institute to equip educators, corporate mentors and adults to teach LEGO Mindstorm based robotics to local youth
CORE uses youth robotics for workforce development. Youth robotics is a proven tool for increasing STEM studies among Houston area youth and encouraging youth to enter engineering and technology careers. Kids involved in robotics from middle school through high school are entering engineering and technology careers at a much higher rate than students not involved in robotics
CORE is the leading provider of youth robotics programs in the Texas Gulf Coast, including support to more than 350 youth robotics teams in grades 4-12. Teams can be coached by educators in school-day or after school programs, by corporate mentors involved in local schools or by adults interested in promoting community-based teams
Adults attending either Robotics Institutes this summer will learn robotics programming, construction techniques, strategies for team leadership and competition skills
The 5-Day Institute is being held July 27-31. The fee for this workshop is $300. It is being taught by a Carnegie Mellon trained instructor and winning robotics coach
Both programs are 9-4 each day and will be held at the UH College of Technology
